Welcome to Fairlawn Elementary School!

Dear Parents and Guardians,

On behalf of our entire staff, I would like to welcome you to Fairlawn Elementary School. As the school principal, I take great pride in sharing information about our school.

We are conveniently located on Evansville’s Southside. Presently, we have approximately 420 students enrolled in kindergarten through fifth grade. Our students eventually attend McGary Middle School and Harrison High School.

At each grade level, our instructional practice begins with the Indiana Department of Education’s state standards. We are committed to providing a quality education to your child by building a solid foundation in the skills of reading, writing, language arts and math. Our curriculum and instructional practices build skills and thinking strategies that will empower our students to be independent and successful throughout their lives.

Outside the regular classroom, your child will receive instruction from specialists in physical education, music, art, and technology. In addition, special education services are offered to students with academic, emotional, or physical needs. Our school has a full time counselor, behavior interventionist, and a part time school nurse to help meet the social, emotional, and wellness needs of our students.

Just as important as building a strong academic foundation is the strengthening of good citizenship. Students are encouraged to be responsible and be fully engaged in their own learning. We consider the worth and value of each child, and strive to meet his or her individual needs.

All successful schools understand the importance of building strong relationships with the families who live in our community. We are so appreciative of our Fairlawn Parent-Teacher Association, which is made up of involved parents that work tirelessly to support our students and staff.

Again, welcome to Fairlawn. Please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have. We look forward to a challenging and exciting year working with you as partners in your child's education.

Warm Regards,

Beth Mortis, Principal
