SECOND GRADING PERIOD

• Understands concepts of print:  Print goes from left to right; difference between letters, words, and sentences
• Identify rhyming words
• Sequence a story
• Graph information with pictures and objects
• Identify, copy and extend a pattern
• Count to 25
• Count objects to 10
• Identify numbers 0 to 10
• Write using pictures, letters, words, or sentences
• Recognizes letters of the alphabet

THIRD GRADING PERIOD

• Matches sounds and letters
• Identifies beginning consonant sounds
• Identifies ending consonant sounds
• Writes numbers 0-10
• Compares sets of objects to 10  - Equal, Less, or More
• Recognizes letters of the alphabet

FOURTH GRADING PERIOD

• Reads sight words
• Decodes word families
• Identifies parts of a story:  Characters, Setting, Events
• Uses reading strategies:  Picture Clues, Context Clues, Predictions, Connections
• Knows alphabetical order
• Writes legibly
• Models addition and subtraction
• Uses objects to solve problems
