Art and Music

related artsThe art education program at Fairlawn offers engaging interactive projects that develop fine motor skills, encourages self expression in a dimensional form, and introduces a wide artistic vocabulary. In our art classes at Fairlawn, students are taught methods of creativity that will last a lifetime. We learn to create with a variety of media, such as ceramics, painting, printmaking, two and three dimensional drawing, and collage, to name a few. Students are introduced to the “building blocks” of art from basic concepts of line and color in kindergarten to the higher levels of art analysis writing in grades four and five. The Harrison District/ St. Mary Hospital Art Show held annually in February is an impressive display of the talents of former and present Fairlawn art students, and artwork is also displayed annually at our Fine Arts Night, where we blend the musical and visual arts talents of our students. Our goal in art education at Fairlawn is to develop the creativity of every student and guide them towards an imaginative and inventive future.
